Oil, Gas, and Alternative Fuels
The hydrocarbons sector faces the challenge of adapting to a world in energy transition. Reducing emissions and diversifying energy sources are key to meeting climate commitments and ensuring energy security. Exploring alternative fuels and monitoring the environmental and social impact of the sector are crucial to driving a sustainable transformation.
At IDEA, we analyze the role of oil and gas in the context of the energy transition, identifying mitigation strategies and promoting clean alternatives for sector decarbonization.
Our main lines of action include:
Civil Society Observatory (OBMEM): Through this observatory, we monitor the evolution of the hydrocarbons sector and its impact on energy policy, the environment, and society, providing reliable information for public debate and decision-making.
Mitigation Scenarios: We evaluate viable pathways for emission reductions in the production and use of hydrocarbons, identifying opportunities to accelerate their transition to more sustainable models.
Green Hydrogen and Ammonia as Energy Vectors: We research and promote the use of green hydrogen and ammonia as key energy alternatives for decarbonizing strategic sectors, facilitating their integration into the energy matrix.
