The transportation sector plays a central role in Mexico's economic and social development; however, it also represents one of the main environmental, climate, and public health challenges. It is currently responsible for approximately 25% of national greenhouse gas emissions and significantly contributes to air pollution in major urban areas. The dependence on fossil fuels, the growth of the vehicle fleet, and the limited infrastructure for sustainable mobility—such as safe and efficient public transportation, bike commuting, or safe walking paths—have created a scenario that demands urgent and structural solutions.
In response to this issue, IDEA develops science-based strategies and technical analyses to promote the transition toward a more sustainable and efficient transport system. Our work is grounded in a comprehensive approach that considers not only emission reductions but also the economic and social feasibility of the proposed solutions.
Promoting electromobility and sustainable transportation not only reduces emissions but also improves urban quality of life, public health, reduces operational costs, and creates new economic opportunities in emerging sectors.
At IDEA, we turn knowledge into action through technical assistance, multi-sector collaboration, and the generation of reliable data to support informed decision-making. Our commitment is to accelerate the transformation of the transport sector toward a sustainable future.
